What is Greenpeace?

Greenpeace is a not-for-profit campaigning organization that uses peaceful direct action, political lobbying, scientific research and market pressure to expose global problems. We also research solutions and alternatives that are essential to a green and peaceful future. This helps us even more to highlight ecological problems and strengthen our environmental practice across the Globe.

Your role as a Greenpeace Fundraiser

The primary functions of the Greenpeace Direct Dialogue Fundraiser are to approach members of the public, engage in conversation about Greenpeace’s campaigns, and to solicit support for Greenpeace. New Frontline members can donate to Greenpeace via chequing account, Mastercard or VISA. We do not accept cash donations. Canvassers are required to average a minimum standard over two-week periods.

We have two Frontline programs: Door-to-door and Street.

Street Hours:

Tuesday to Saturday - 11:00 am to 6:00 pm

Full-time employees are expected to work at least 8 shifts bi-weekly, part-time employees work at least 6.

Please note: The street program has ended for 2009 and will reopen in the Spring of 2010.  However, the door program is year round and hiring is on-going.

Door hours:

Monday 3pm – 9:30pm
Tuesday 4pm – 9:30pm
Wednesday 3pm – 9:30pm
Thursday 4pm – 9:30pm
Friday 4pm – 9:30pm

Full-time employees are expected to work at least 9 shifts bi-weekly, part-time employees at least 6.

Pay:

Two training days are paid at $10.20/hour. Wages range between $10.20 - $17.55/hour plus bonuses. Wages increase regularly and there is a generous benefits package.

Teams:

We work in a team environment. All canvassers are paired with someone else each day.

Teamleaders:

A Team leader oversees each team. They are there to motivate, guide, see to your safety and do minor administration.

Work Sites:

Almost all our work sites are accessible by public transit.

Learning about Greenpeace and the Environment:

As a Greenpeace Fundraiser you will be provided with a training day to teach you the basics, you will be given written information about our campaigns and history, and you will be given regular campaign briefings. You are responsible for your own level of knowledge, however the more you know the more capable you are to answer questions.

Anti-harassment, anti-discrimination policy:

Greenpeace is an open and progressive environment. We have an anti-harassment, anti-discrimination policy in place that all staff and volunteers must abide by.
