Public Outreach Fundraising Greenpeace Application

What is Greenpeace?


Greenpeace is a not-for-profit campaigning organization that uses peaceful direct action, political lobbying, scientific research and market pressure to expose global problems. Greenpeace also researches solutions and alternatives that are essential to a green and peaceful future.

Your role as a Public Outreach Fundraiser


The primary function of the Public Outreach Fundraising Campaigner is to approach members of the public, on the street, to ask them to support Greenpeace through a monthly giving program; donors can give to Greenpeace using cheques, Master Card or Visa; we do not accept cash donations. Fundraising Campaigners are required to average a minimum standard of $16.22 in monthly donations per day, averaged over a two-week period.

Street Hours


Monday to Friday - 10:00 am to 5:30 pm

Door Hours


5 pm to 9:15 pm, Mon.-Fri.

Pay


Evaluation period: $10.00/hr – Starting wage $12.00/hr

Teams


We work in a team environment. All canvassers are paired with at least one other person each day.

Supervisors:


A Team Supervisor oversees each team. They are there to motivate, guide, see to your safety and do minor administration.

Work Sites


Almost all of our sites are found within the city limits of Victoria proper- some exceptions exist, however, these sites are always easily accessed by public transit.

Learning about Greenpeace and the Environment


As a Greenpeace fundraiser you will be provided with a training day to teach you the basics, you will be given written information about Greenpeace campaigns and history, and you will be given regular campaign briefings. You are responsible for your own level of knowledge, however the more you know the more capable you are to answer questions on the street.

Public Outreach Fundraising is an open and progressive employer. We have an anti-harassment, anti-discrimination policy in place that all staff must abide by.

Weather policy


Canvassers are expected to phone the office each morning to find out whether the weather conditions are appropriate for canvassing.
Ex. (We do not work during blizzards.)
